During the first minute we will toast $A_1$ , $B_1$ , $C_1$ and then during the second minute we will toast $A_2$ , $B_2$ , $D_1$ . Finally, during the third minute we will toast $C_2$ and $D_2$ . Therefore, it will take 3 minutes in total to cook the four pieces of steak.
